Default SDUpSvc Error on Shut Down

    Hi,

I am running XP SP3 and get SDUpSvc.exe error box on Shut Down. It does not prevent the comp from shutting down just delays it for about 15 seconds.

    Any suggestions.

    thanks

    Hello Donjo.

Which version and edition of Spybot do you have please.

    See: https://www.safer-networking.org/private/

You are probably aware that the XP operating system is no longer supported by Microsoft and so cannot be patched against vulnerabilities.

Do you have any other security programs installed?

    Best regards.

    Hi,

    2.4.40.0

Yes I know it's not supported. When I bought and loaded the new Spybot it did not say there would be problems with XP.

    I run G-Lock Spam Combat

There isn't a problem however as XP is a magnet for malware I am asking about protection for your computer. G-Lock is for emails.

So you have Spybot with AV (anti virus). SDUpdSvc is the Spybot Update service, does the error you describe happen every time you shut down?

    Best regards.

Yes sorry about that G-Lock. Really good cheap (Free) software. Had to move to it after Mailwasher (many upgrades ago) decided to not like XP.

I ran a Spybot scan yesterday and the SDUpSvc error did not pop up at shut down...but an error box did appear which was too quick for me to note its content. Spybot found no major issues just a few low level greens which I did not fix. I intend running another scan while out today so will see what happens after that.

Foolishly I do not run any other AV software than SBAV...no matter what I tried, Norton, Mcwhatsit they all slowed my comp down to a near stop.

That's why I went Spybot A/V which makes no change whatsoever...perhaps it's not doing anything

    thanks

I think the errors have now cleared after completing two scans and Fixing all the finds even though they were not serious.
