Finally was able to update the virus signatures!

After working on it for about 2 hours I was finally able to update my virus signatures.

I disabled live protection. I set my time forward a few days. Activated my VPN. Then I ran the updater as an administrator.

The updates started all downloading. The VPN is what made it so I can download the updates. So my advice to everyone that wants to update their virus signatures is to activate a VPN.

Somebody was having problems updating their antivirus signatures today on the Spybot facebook page, and somebody from Spybot answered them, so I'll post their answer as a quote, and you could try what they posted as well.

Looks like the AV update was failing and all anti-virus signatures are missing... can you try a few times? It will cycle through different update servers then, in case one is not available...
