Default Is svchost.exe a false positive?

Hi folks. I am working on my father's laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have removed a lot of junk using Spybot and Malwarebytes. I believe I have one issue left and it is svchost.exe being listed as a Trojan. When I try to quarantine it the power is disrupted and the laptop shuts down or restarts. This also happens in safe mode. One area I read says this file is important in Windows. So do I have a false positive? Any help would be appreciated.
