Unable to complete system scan

Hi
Have used SS&D for years but recently it has failed to finish scan. It gets near completion and then perpetually searches for Zlob.ZipCodec downloaded files in one particular section of my hard drive. Have uninstalled and re-installed SS&D but it just spends hours and hours searching (with no estimated time to completion). Have left it fruitlessly searching the same section for up to four hours.
What's gone wrong with this otherwise satisfactory program?
Do I need to dump it?
