Description:
PU.MON.DriverUpdater is an application that scans for missing and outdated drivers and offers to update them. This program could be installed as an optional download in 3rd party installers. Monterix Software LLC uses dark patterns in their shop system: the shopping basket fill pattern and the auto-renewal service pattern with varying validity periods for each product. This services can be ceased any time.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Driver Updater" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\*.exe*".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$COMMONDESKTOP>\Driver Updater.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\aff.txt".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\DriverUpdaterM.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\unins000.dat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\unins000.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater\unins000.msg".
  • The file at "<$STARTMENU>\Driver Updater.lnk".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.MON.DriverUpdater uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Monterix\Driver Updater".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If PU.MON.DriverUpdater uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{2329B0B1-00B8-459B-9F68-66831E4FFF47}_is1" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\".
  • Delete the registry key "DriverUpdaterEx" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Monterix\".
  • Delete the registry key "Monterix" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
If PU.MON.DriverUpdater uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

There are more registry entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.
