Default popups, new backround on the desktop

everytime i open up an internet browser, popups come up. a new backround installed itself on the computer advertising an anti virus program. also, near the clock icon, a new popup comes up saying the computer is infected and to fix it click the link. im pretty sure thats a virus too. its icon is a yellow triangle with an ! in the middle. it says System Protection Center or something.

i have run spybot numerous times but it doesn't fix the backround or the new System protection center and the popups keep coming back.

    hi willbill48,

first we will use hjt, after that:
next read thru this thread, download what you need and follow along for the fix. step 6 and beyond require a boot into safe mode so i would copy/paste the rest of the instructions into notepad and save it so you can read it in safe mode.

    the thread:
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015
(you already have ewido and spybot, check for updates to them before using)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    HJT:

first look in add/remove programs panel for web rebates. if present uninstall it.

scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked

    F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, C:\WINNT\system32\hrmot.exe
    F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINNT\system32\userinit.exe,rmssemh.exe

and select all those 02 items that say BHO:(no name) and (no file) on the end

My apologies for gatecrashing this thread, but before you continue, and if it's not too late, there's a file we'd like to have a closer look at:
It's an unknown and very likely co-responsible for your infection!

Please download the Suspicious File Packer to your desktop, unzip the files inside and run sfp.exe

Copy then Paste the bold text below into it and hit 'continue'.

    C:\WINNT\System32\asgp32.dll

On hitting 'continue', a "Requested Files" .cab file will be created on your desktop. By all means send it to the email addy you'll be presented with, but please also go to This Site and upload this cab there for the contents to be analyzed.

After that I'll be happy to leave you in shelf life's most capable hands.

    Much appreciated!
