    Default Proxy Server

    I have a client who would like to use SpyBot S&D. (and contribute) I cannot get SpyBot to access the internet through the proxy server. They do run Ad-Aware, AVG, and SpywareBlaster. The proxy is configured for all of these and they access and update just fine.

    Neither 1.3 nor 1.4 could update. I tried to set the proxy by name and port (80) as well as by IP address and port.

    The proxy server is a NT4.0 box running BackOffice.

    The one computers with SpyBot installed is running Win98se and the other is Win2k.

    Hi there.
    Did you adjust the settings in Spybot-S&D?

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/10.html

    The integrated update is not working. Are there any solutions for this?
    The main reason for this problem is that you need to use a proxy server to access the internet. In that case, the proxy server is already set up in your browser, where you can look up its settings and enter them into Spybot-S&D.
    <snip>
    Back inside Spybot-S&D you need to go to the settings page, and scroll down to the entry Automation - Web update - Use proxy. Now check the box below it, and a dialog will appear where you can enter your proxy settings.
    The format is host: port (the host is the name, the port the number you found in your browser). If you need to access your proxy using a login, you can use the form at username: password @ host: port.

    While I don't have my LAN set up with a proxy client, I have in the past set up that way for clients without prob. However I do use both a local proxy and a cfg script routed from the local without prob. Examples just made this morning to test;

    Local
    SpybotSD.exe:1332 TCP home:1224 localhost:8080 ESTABLISHED

    Remote
    SpybotSD.exe:1332 TCP dialup-64-246-4-245.ev1.net:1228 master.worldnet.local:3128 ESTABLISHED

    You can find a pic showing the cfg in SSD that Tashi mentioned @ http://www.voiceofthepublic.com/SSD/udssdcp.html

    For those others who are behind a proxy from their provider and can't get the addy to cfg(ask them), an executable definitions update is avvailable on the SSD DL page; http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html
