Socket # 10053 . . .

Cannot run the auto update from within SBS&D. Get the following message:

"Error retrieving update info file!
Socket Error # 10053
Software caused connection abort."

Plus SBS&D is runing very slowly as a matter of fact it STOPs before it even reaches approx 10%.

Did a search and found one reference to this problem but could not find the solution, dated 11/15/2005 and the user updated from v1.3 to v1.4.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Please take a look at the security settings of your firewall (if you are using one) and make sure that Spybot-S&D is not blocked. That should help to get into the updates. If Spybot-S&D is not blocked it is also possible that our server is temporarily not available. Please try again a few hours later.

Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.

Greetings "Sandy",

I had checked my FW prior to doing my update and made entry for SBS&D and that pooped up. Then went in and did the Manual UpDate and it worked just fine. It must have been the Server then, that was my suspicion anyway.

Thank you for the links to download the update for manual operations, will keep it on hand for future ops. That is the first time I have had that happen.

Hello Sandra THE Team SPYBOT,

I now know what my problem was, in setting my FW up for SBS&D to have access I gave the permission to the file 'UpDates.Exe' instead of 'SpyBotSD.Exe'. Made that change over and now all are doing their thingys just fine, as frog hair.
