    Default My browser redirected

    Hello,
I google a term and get the results. When I click on any of the results, I get redirected to different search pages, or Ebay, or other websites. I was reading some of the posts on the forum, and I hope I did everything right before posting. downloaded and ran Spybot, and cleaned everything that found. I still got redirected. I ran the Panda online scans mentioned on this forum. I then rebooted to safe mode and reran Spybot, which came up with nothing. I ran Hijackthis. I am posting the results below, followed by the results of the Panda scan. I hope someone can help me. Thanks for your time.
    Bob

Hi bertgummer and welcome to Safer Networking Forums

    You got some infections there....

At first you need to disable a few realtime protections. These may interfere with our cleaning process.
We'll enable these when you're clean...

    Disable Windows Defender's realtime protection.
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click on "Tools"
    • Click on "General Settings"
    • Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
    • Uncheck "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
    • Click "Save"
    • Exit the program.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

    Mr_JAk3,
Thank you for your help. I did as you said. Before I post the results, if I could ask a few questions. I have Mcafee, Windows Defender, and the XP security stuff. This computer is used by several in the house. After seeing one of the logs, I can guess these problems came from someone going to an X-rated site. We're all adults here, so I don't know if those sights should be blocked or not. If I don't block those sites, what can I do? Thanks.

Download F-Secure Blacklight and save it to your desktop.

Doubleclick blbeta.exe, accept the agreement, click Scan, then click Next

You'll see a list what have been found. A log will appear to your desktop, it is named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx will be random numbers).

DON'T choose Rename if something was found!

Post the contents of fsbl.xxxx.log to here (blacklight log from your desktop)

When you're ready, please post the following logs to here:

Hi again, it is looking clean now
The pc is running fine ?

You didn't provide me the AVG Anti-Spyware report. It didn't find any infections ?

    Run ATF Cleaner
    • Under Main choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
    If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    If you use Opera browser
    • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

You can remove the tools we used.

Then you should update your Java to the latest version (5.0 update 9)
    • Start
    • Control Panel
    • Add/Remove Programs
    • Delete the old Java, J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9.
    • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."
    • Click the "Download" button to the right.
    • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement."
    • The page will refresh.
    • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
    • Install it

    Enable Windows Defender's realtime protection.
    • Open Windows Defender
    • Click on "Tools"
    • Click on "General Settings"
    • Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
    • Check "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
    • Click "Save"
    • Exit the program.

Donations are always very appreciated, read more from here

It's running better. Haven't been redirected yet since taking your steps. Here's the last AVG Anti-Spyware report I ran.

I will take the steps you listed and next payday I'm sending some money to support this site. This is an excellent site and you've been more than helpful. If you need me to be one of the ones to stand up and be counted. Let me know. I know a few computer-related things, but nothing like you guys. If I can help in any way, my e-mail address is removed. I'll be dropping by from time to time. Interesting reading here (though I wish we didn't need sites like this) Thanks again. Have a good holiday season!
