Default I can't seem to shake coolWWWsearch

Every time I rund S&D it finds it and says it has fixed the problem. But every time I reboot it's back.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to fix it for a couple of days now and I'm getting quite frustrated.

I see the same problem on a friend's machine I'm helping him clean up. Specifically, the following five pieces of malware pop up over and over again:

    CoolWWWSearch.SearchKlick
    CoolWWWSearch.Feat2Installer.ADS
    CoolWWWSearch.HomeSearch
    CoolWWWSearch.IELinks
    CoolWWWSearch

When I rebooted into safe-mode-plus-networking (had to add networking because my friend couldn't log into his machine in normal safe mode) I was able to remove this malware, and then when I reran Spybot it claimed to no longer find it. But once I rebooted into regular mode and ran Spybot again the malware reappeared.

Lets take care of vundo first
    O2 - BHO: ATLDistrib Object -

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    http://www.atribune.org/downloads/VundoFix.exe
Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
After the files are extracted, please restart your computer into Safe Mode.
Click here if needed For instructions.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
A command window will open and it should look like this:

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk

At this point press enter one time.
    Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, to continue with the fix.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyx.dll

    Press Enter.
    Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xybeg.*

    Press Enter to continue.

The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
    O2 - BHO: ATLDistrib Object - {3FE36807-69ED-45D1-B9BE-85C0E3F75B6A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyx.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: gebyx - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyx.dll
    =================================================
After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis.
The fix will tell you to shutdown using the Power button. Hold in your power button until the computer shuts down. Wait about 15 seconds and then restart the computer into regular windows.
Chkdsk will run. This is normal. It will take a few minutes and is checking your file system because of the Bad Shutdown we caused.

Go for free online Virus scans here:
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
    Allow them to clean
Panda will have the option to create a log afer the scan has finished. Click the See Report button. Then click the save Report button. It will be saved under the name activescan.txt Do that and post that log into your next reply here.
Go manualy update the sunjava plugin
    Click download now: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
After the current version is installed go into addremove programs and uninstall the older versions.
Run hijackthis and post the new log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into as well.

Panda didn't give me the option to clean without buying the program.

    Here's the log though:

    Incident Status Location

    Adware:adware/gator Not disinfected Windows Registry
    Dialer:Dialer.DNA Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Kenny\Local Settings\Temp\8.tmp
    Dialer:Dialer.DNA Not disinfected C:\Documents and Settings\Kenny\Local Settings\Temp\8.tmp.exe
    Adware:Adware/WinHound Not disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\run697.exe

And here's my new Hijackthis log (seems both of the things I fixed with hijackthis is still there):

Also, I bought Panda. It seems a lot better than the other AV I was using. I'll post up another Hijackthis after I run it and clean things up.

Okay, I ran Hijackthis again and fixed the two items that came back. I rebooted to check that they did not load again and it seems they are gone. Also, Spybot, Ewidio, CWSshredder, ad-aware and spysweeper all came up clean.

Here's the newest Hijackthis log file:

    Hi

Looks like it might be trying to come back, use the pc for half a day then post back with another new hijackthis log.

In the meantime see if you can manualy delete
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\run697.exe
    Were you able to ?

Panda took care of run697.exe. I tried to manually delete it even before I posted for help here. But it didn't work.

    Hi
Run vundofix again this time for the new file

    Reboot into safe mode

Run vundofix, you will see >

    VundoFix V2.15 by Atri
By pressing enter you agree that you are using this at your own risk

At this point press enter one time.
    Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, to continue with the fix.

At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\avldr.dll

    Press Enter.
    Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdlva.*
    Press Enter to continue.

The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: avldr - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\avldr.dll
    =================================================

Run hijackthis and post the new log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into as well.
