Default 14 Global Hosts will not immunize

I have 14 Global Hosts that will not immunize. Fan runs constantly and need to use Start Manager to get out of Spybot. Any help?

    Hello,

Please make sure that you are running the latest version of Spybot - Search & Destroy including the latest updates.

To see which version number and/or updates of Spybot - Search & Destroy you are using please run Spybot-S&D and choose "Help" --> "About" in the menu bar.
There you can see which version you have and which updates are installed.
It should be version 1.5.2 and the updates from the 2008/06/11.

Some users have reported that they use SpySweeper or SpywareBlaster and shutting them down solves the problem. ZoneAlarm might also block the global hosts. If you go to Firewall in ZoneAlarm on the left and then the main tab in the upper right then go down to the advance button and click on it you will see under General setting "Lock Hosts file".

    Further please try the following:
Open Spybot > Immunize > under Windows uncheck Global (Hosts). Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Hosts file > and then click on the "Add Spybot S&D hosts list" button. Go back into Spybot > Immunize
The problem that not all global host entries have been immunized has also been discussed in our forum:
    Immunize Global Hosts
    Immunize Global Hosts
    Immunize Global Hosts

    Best regards

What version of Spybot - Search & Destroy are you running (Spybot » Help » About)?

If you are running Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2.20, try the following:
    • Go into Spybot > Immunize.
    • Right click on the right hand pane and select "Deselect all".
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the right hand pane and under Windows check "Global (Hosts)".
    • Click the "Undo" button at the top of the right pane.
    • Click the "Immunize" button at the top of the right pane.

Are you talking about when you do a "Check for problems"? If so please provide some details such as:
    • What version of Spybot - Search & Destroy are you running?
    • What Windows OS you are running?
    • Are you running from a computer administrator account?
    • Where does the scan stop?
      • During the running of a Spybot scan ("Check for problems") the status bar in the lower left hand corner of the screen shows the following:
        • "Running bot-check(xxxxx/yyyyy:zzzzzz)" where:
          • xxxxx = Current check count.
          • yyyyy = Total check count.
          • zzzzz = Malware check being performed.
    • System details (CPU speed, etc.)?
    • Have you successfully run Spybot in the past and the problem just started after a particular update?
    • Etc.
