Good Morning Mark,
Remove these with HJT.

Go to your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall Viewpoint, it installs without your knowledge or consent, is considered Adware, uses system resources and is not needed for anything.
c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe -> Quarantined and deleted <--This could be signs of another infection, lets hope not.
Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
- Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
- See this Link for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
- Remember to re-enable them when we're done.
- Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
- As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
- Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.
*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Hello Mark,
Ken as an aside, is it possible to infect my clean computer if I have been using a flash drive to transfer the logs between the infected pc and my clean pc? <--Yes it can.
You can do this on the clean computer
Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop:
- Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it.
- Follow any prompts that may appear.
- Wait until the program has finished scanning, then please exit the program.
The tool may ask you to insert your flash drive, or other removable drives. Please do so and allow the tool to clean it up as well.
Please restart your computer.
Malwarebytes said it cleaned userinit.exe but Combofix said it fixed it also. I would like you to run this free online virus scanner , you will have to upgrade your Java first which needs to be done anyway.
Download the latest version Here save it, do not install it yet.
JRE 6 Update 13 <--This is what you need
- Go to your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java
- Reboot your computer
- Install the latest version
You can verify the installation Here
This scan will show if the infection that infected userinit is present
Run this free online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
- The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
- Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
- Now click on Scan Settings
- In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
- Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
- Standard
- Scan Options:
- Scan Archives
- Scan Mail Bases
- Click OK
- Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
- This will program will start and scan your system.
- The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
- Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
- Now click on the Save as Text button:
- Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log along with a New HJT Log into your next reply.
-
Ken, the flash disinfector link does not work, is there another safe place to download this from?...I will do as instructed on the infected pc and report back.
Thanks
Mark

Something going on with my "clean" computer now. IE runs for about 10 minutes then the screen goes black, cant shut it down from task manager and cant shut down or restart the computer without pulling the power cord. Still working on the Kaspersky scan on original infected pc. I followed your instructions and downloaded Java, and saved to desktop, but when I went to add/remove programs, but it wasnt able to remove all of the old Java with the new version saved on desktop, so had to restart, then download new version again and install. I hope that doing it out of sequence doesnt effect the process.
-
Lets wait and see what the Kaspersky scan comes up with.
The Flash disinfector worked for me.
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sect...isinfector.exe
After where done here, you can post a HJT log from the other computer and we can take a look
-
Kaspersky scan running. Still cant get the Flash Disinfector. I get page not found on firefox and page cannot be displayed on IE, sorry
-
Ken
Kaspersky scan still running. My previously "clean" computer is my work pc, so would really appreciate it if you would take a look at the Hijack this log while I'm running Kaspersky on the other. Found a link to Flash disinfector on bleepingcomputer.com, so will download when Kaspersky is done on infected pc.
Thanks for all the help
