any ideas on how I could have got this? web surfing or downloading a file? just trying to figure it out so I can hopefully avoid it next time. I have 2 pcs... its on the one I rarely use... but not on the one I use more which is strange I thought....

Hello macgig,

I see you had another unwanted toolbar previously, http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=67981

Typically such toolbars are bundled with various third party software. During installation a pre-checked box is often presented which if left checked will give consent to install the toolbar and also change your homepage and default search engine.
