Default Spybot Free V 2.4.40.0 Frozen for 48 hrs: no Uninstall/Reinstall possible!

Running Spybot v. 2.4.40.0 last ~ 2 years on an HP ProBook 4530s running MSE and MWB Prem additional AV, Win 7 Pro x64.
For last ~ 48 hrs, have been unable to run 'Immunization' or 'System Scan'.
Attempted to uninstall program from Programs in Control Panel: alert: 'please wait until the current program finished uninstalling or being changed', in order to download again (from CNET)?
The program can be opened from the icon in the taskbar, BUT if the 'close program' X is clicked, this notice appears: 'Access Violation at address 3060B7434 in module 'SDWelcome.exe'. Write of address 00000080'.
Program seems totally frozen, unable to scan, uninstall or reinstall this.
Please advise ASAP as to any available fix for this! Thanks!

For the past ~ approx 1 week, I had put the laptop into 'hibernate' mode, because of recent long boot-up times from shut-down, used 'restart' at least twice.
Attempted to perform 'disk-check', with no further control over drives: totally frozen.
'Ctrl/Alt/Delete' did NOT open task manager: forced a shutdown using power key.
Upon boot-up, SpyBot (appears) fully functional. PROBLEM RESOLVED (at least for the time being!)
No further resply necessary, thanks: 'false alarm!'
