GMAIL incoming being filtered - False Positives?

Having just installed Spybot my wife is now finding around 10% of her emails are being blocked. These tend to contain PDF files such as an insurance policy but are otherwise seemingly innocent as GMAIL already filters most things and when saved a scan does not detect/reject the saved PDFs.

How do we lower the sensitivity, presumably of a heuristic detector somewhere in Spybot?

Which edition of Spybot was installed please.

Are you accessing the gmail account on-line or through an email client like Thunderbird?

It is the very latest version downloaded from their website and paid for a few days ago - Home Edition I think. I have also updated it, done a full system scan, applied suggested fixes, run immunization a couple of times and setup scheduled updates using the default frequencies but at times convenient to us.

Normally access GMAIL via Thunderbird which is popping up a window saying the download was blocked.

Have set up the Spybot proxy which seems to be working OK. Thunderbird has its box saying allow anti-virus to access emails ticked.

No problems accessing the mails and attachments via Internet browser.

Perhaps not specifically allowing anti-virus access from Thunderbird will work but seems the wrong thing to do!
