    Couple of the alternatives now are Home schooling or online classes which I don't think worked very well.

    Back when I was in Elementary School having online classes was still like something you'd see on The Jetsons. I also think back then if someone had suggested to parents that they home school their kids they'd probably have said "Nooooo thank you! I can barely handle summer vacation as it is." and sent them packing off to school.

    We could hardly wait for school to be out but we had no idea how boring summer could be either.
    Was glad when I became old enough to go to summer camp.

    I never really went to summer camp. I went to Brownie camp once, but wasn't a real fan.

    Let me tell you about summer camp
    No fun, absolutely no fun when you step into or onto a Bee's nest.
    My group of girls did, we were screaming, running, crying and I saw one girl that even had them in her socks.

    I read a book many moons ago called Bread & Molasses that was pretty funny.
