    Hello,

Please start the SDUpdate.exe manually and see if that changes anything.

Further open the "Spybot-S&D Start Center" by double clicking.
Now activate the "Advanced User Mode" at the bottom by ticking the check-box.
Under "Advanced Tools" you will find "Update" which you can simply tick.
There you can run an "Integrity Check" and "Update".

If this still does not work please check if you have any update log.
    It should be stored here:

    C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2\Logs\Updates.log'' (or SDUpdate.log) - does that exist?

    Also check the scheduled tasks.
Click on the Spybot-S&D Start Center.
Then click on "Settings" and browse to the Schedule tab.

    Best regards

    I'm seeing the same thing.

    A manual update shows:

so that seems to be working, apart from the bug already reported in http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=66659.

The scheduled update appears to have run correctly:

    The updates log shows:

    Code:
    SDUpdSvc.exe [2012-09-06 03:07:54] 0.0.0.0 Successfully started listening on port 21321.
    SDUpdSvc.exe [2012-09-14 16:47:53] 0.0.0.0 Successfully started listening on port 21321.
for the period since I installed RC2 (uninstalling RC1 first). However, I note that earlier in the log it shows:

    Code:
    SDUpdSvc.exe [2012-08-03 18:14:05] Started looking for updates...
    SDUpdSvc.exe [2012-08-03 18:14:09] Processed 7 updates
so maybe the problem is that the new version hasn't actually downloaded any updated definitions yet.

This is on Windows 8 Release Preview running in a VirtualBox VM.

I checked again after today's updates and Spybot is still showing "No update attempt registered."

Based on the manual update window, it appears that Spybot is detecting the updates, but not downloading/installing them:

Hi Sandra, i have done what u suggested, but this dont solve the problem, when i do a manuall update and all this, it only downloads invalid files, but the status stays on "No update attempt registered".

The path C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2\Logs\Updates.log'' (or SDUpdate.log) is not on my system,
    there is not even a folder C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2
    i am using Windows 7 SP1

the task is sheduled and stays ready, editing the task did not help, same as removing task and creating new one.

    always "No update attempt registered."

    Hello,

Sorry, please take a look here:
    C:\Users\All Users\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Logs\Updates

Please note that the All Users Folder is hidden.
So if you can't find this folder please check your folder properties.

    Best regards

Open a folder, and find "Tools". Click it and hit the "Folder Options". A new window will pop up. You then go to "View" and hit the "Show hidden files, folders and drivers". ProgramData will now show up as a folder in C:\.

i have found ProgramData as a folder in C:\ but i cannot find "Spybot - Search & Destroy 2" as a folder in ProgramData!
i only have "Spybot - Search & Destroy" there, but no "Spybot - Search & Destroy 2"!
