2 Entries in Add/Remove

Hi Guys,

After successful auto-update from 1.5.20 to 1.6.0.31 there are 2 entries in Add/Remove for SB

It's kinda old issue. I solved it by some manual manipulation after 1.4-->1.5 upgrade.

Is there an "official way" to do this now?
Not a big problem... but

I tried to search here but failed, probably due to "remove" word... you know what I mean

Thanks in advance
Regards

This is the first time I heard of any problem with two entries in Add/Remove Programs going from Spybot 1.5.20 to 1.6.0.31. I suspect that you may have deleted the wrong entry the last time causing two entries again during this upgrade. Please follow the instructions in this post:
The entry you should keep should look like this:

Code:
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.6.0 ({B4092C6D-E886-4CB2-BA68-FE5A88D31DE6}_is1)
    install date: 20080708
install location: C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\
   uninstall cmd: "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\unins000.exe"

Hi md usa spybot fan,

Thank you for reply

The 1.5.20 was removed. Below is the entry left.
There is a difference though compare to what you postwd in code above re: uninstaller

In my case it is unins001.exe

re: unins001.exe vs unins000.exe.

This is speculation but there may have been (or still is) a unins000.exe in the C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy directory when the installation occurred.

When there is already an uninstaller name used in a directory, the uninstaller name is incremented, i.e. unins000.exe, unins001.exe, unins002.exe, etc. That scheme allows multiple applications to reside in the same directory.

Thanks md usa spybot fan,

I may add to that speculation :)

First, I think you are right. Then I may assume that you did clean install of this new v1.6 (I can be wrong though).

When it was a problem with 1.4 to 1.5 upgrade where 2 entries were "officially" present there were indeed .000 and .001 belonging to 1.4 and 1.5 respectively despite only 1 application (1.5) was residing in the base directory.
One of the steps of removing the presence of 1.4 was renaming or moving two files unins000.dat & unins000.exe, belonging to 1.4
The new uninstaller for 1.5 at that time was unins001.exe

This time as far as I understand unins001. exe was substituted with the new version under the same name.
Nevertheless the entry for 1.5 remained.
It was much easier to remove it now following your advice.

Probably my info doesn't mean a thing... but it may be helpful for future more clean upgrades unless as you said my case was "unique" because of my previous cleansing.
1.5 was working all its life cycle perfectly, I have to admit though
