Another Google Redirect Virus

shortstack

New member
Hi, I am new to this forum. I have read a bunch of the stickies and also the read before you post.
I also have the google redirect virus, and I have for months now. I read the whole thread from the others who were infected and decided it was too much for me to do on my own. So I am asking for help from any of you. Here is my HJT log
Thanks

Hi shortstack

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.

When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks for the reply, I got stuck out of town for a few days. I just ran the combofix like you said and disabled my anti-virus/ malware programs. Except when combofix rebooted my computer my anit-virus programs started up. I hope these didn't interfere. If they did I could try again. Also when my computer came back on after the reboot, my desktop screen was changed?

That is expected as Combofix resets desktop picture. You can change it back later from Control Panel.

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

    Code:
    File::
    c:\windows\system32\fugodalo.exe
    c:\windows\system32\jlkkj.tmp
  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

    CFScriptB-4.gif

  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

So that might be the reason.

Reset router and change its password and let me know if that helped.

I wish I had the manual but the internet provider never gave it to me. I followed your link to the manual and it led me to a dead end on the siemens site. I googled the manual and found one, but all of a sudden my adobe isn't working. I keep getting this message when I am trying to download the new adobe reader

"Error 1402. Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\RUN\OPTIONALCOMPONENTS\MSPS. Verify that you have suffienct access to that key, or contact your support personnell"

I know that this is another problem, but it's preventing me from reading the manual so I know how to reset the router and change the password.

Ok, I got the manual and reset the modem. I checked on google and it's still redirecting me? Thanks by the way for the foxit tip, it's much better than adobe!

Download to the desktop: Dr.Web CureIt
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings
  • Choose the "Scan"-tab, remove the mark at "Heuristic analysis".
  • Back at the main window, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found:
    check.gif

If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    move.gif

This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.
