Antivirus 2009 problems

I'm actually posting this for a friend because he is having problems due to this Antivirus 2009 program.

I've been working with him getting him links to download hijackthis but they won't open, possibly because of the program, and most webpages are being blocked also.

I've run out of ideas and was hoping someone here might be able to help. Would be greatly appreciated.
