Cannot open os clear Recent Items folder?

I'm relatively new. I looking for a file to delete and my search said it was in the Recent Items folder. I located the folder but it will not open?
OS System is Vista home.
The Recent Item properties were:
Type Folder
size 395 kb
size on disc 1.71 mb
contains 438 files 0 folders
created Sept. 02-07
attributes read only
When I right click for the menu it has" clear recent items list" when I click on it it does not clear the folder? Should it.
Any and all info would be greatly apprciated as I have no idea what to do with it.

I have figured the problem out.But kaspaersky scan had numerous locked files?

But after a Kaspersky virus scan it could not scan alot of files, it said they were locked and skipped them.
Is this normal?
 
Kaspersky VS HAD NUMEROUS LOCKED FILES???

I ran Kaspersky virus scan and there were numerous locked files which had to be skipped is this normal?
Can you take a look and let me know the results?
