Cannot run/uninstall spybot 1.4

I was trying to install s%p on my winxp. (it was bit infected by malware), But I couldnt launch the spybot. There is a message saying 'SpybotSD.exe encountered a proiblem and need to close.

I cannot uninstall from the add/remove and neither can I uninstall from the program itself. How can I resolve this issue. TIA

Were you trying to uninstall Spybot to see if reinstalling it would fix the problem?
