Can't Get Rid of "Right Media" Cookie

Hello,

Every time I run a Spybot scan, the Problem results show one item highlighted in red -- the "Right Media" tracking cookie.

Out of curiosity, I just ran two consecutive Spybot scans (with no Internet surfing in-between), and it came up both times, despite my having run Spybot as an administrator and then deleting the cookie.

The item shows up under the "Browser" category, and the specific contents of the cookie refer to "ad.yieldmanager.com".

I have two questions:

1) What is this -- is it a web beacon?

2) How can I get rid of it permanently?

Thanks in advance for any insight or help that you might provide.

Hi Sandra,

I use Internet Explorer 8, on a Windows Vista PC.

Let me know if you need more information.

How to disable "Right Media" cookie

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for the link.

However, I am reluctant to delete ALL cookies because it will reduce functionality.

I did go into the Temporary Internet Files (from IE8: Tools --> Internet Options --> General tab --> Browsing history --> Settings --> View Files) and found the cookie "ad.yieldmanager.com" which is associated with Right Media. However, when I click to delete it, it simply stays there, as if I had not done anything!!

OTOH, I did find a Web page where one can opt out of this cookie's tracking: http://ad.yieldmanager.com/opt-out. There is a place on that page where you can also click if you change your mind and want them to follow you around the Web.

Hopefully, this will take care of the cookie problem, even if I can't get rid of the cookie itself.
