Can't logon after temp.removing a startup program

I was trying to remove some malware .I believe I was using the tool section in Spybot.When I restarted the computer I get an HP window asking for my HP ID I click on that screen and it just logs off.If I press Ctrl Alt Delete a windows XP home edition window comes up asking for my HP ID and password .I don't know the ID or password I believe I disabled the HP update program.Any suggestions on the passwords or how I should proceed to correct the situation?Thanks
 
What is your OS? Has Spybot-SD detected it?

Do you recall the "start-up" entry?

Can you boot in SAFE MODE?
 
Hi,I'm using windows xp home editon on an HP computer.The safe mode option doesn't show on my screen and I don't know if I could use the key board to open the safe mode .The program I deleted had HP update in the line .
 
Hm. Are there any other accounts on the PC or is it just you?

Did Spybot-SD detect anything in a scan?

Also:

To boot in SAFE MODE (tap F8 when you here the beep in the desktop) and after tapping Windows should show you with some boot options. Safe Mode should be one of them.

If possible boot in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.

I was thinking if a System Restore will do.
