csrss.exe is path safe \??\c:\windows\system32

csrss.exe is path safe with question marks at the beginning. \??|c:\windows\system. There is also no company name listed for the process. Thank you for your help.

It would be helpful to see the full path of detection, where are you seeing this?

Those two processes are fine. :)

If you have other concerns or signs of infection:
  • switch Spybot S&D into advanced mode
  • navigate to tools - view reports
  • check all boxes
  • click view report button to create the report
  • export the report to a textfile and send to: detections(AT)spybot.info (Replace AT with @)

csrss.exe 220K

its in
c:\program files\microsoft\csrss.exe
microsoft directory doesnt alphabetze in the program files directory
it comes after all the other dirs

csrss.exe doesnt alphabetize in the task list and can be deleted with task manager
then my computer can delete the directory and the file.

the real csrss.exe 6K is in C:\windows\system

evedently spybot has deleted them before
there were a bunch of those non- alphabetizing microsoft directories...
the one with the running csrss.exe
wouldnt delete .. untill killed with task manager
