Downloaded Spybot and now computer is at a crawl

I downloaded Spybot yesterday and today the computer is crawling along at a snail's pace. It is slow in the internet and slow even when NOT on the internet. Have I done something stupid?

I am having the same problem, and I've used Spybot for years...and have not had this problem until now.
Worse, the scan I run takes over 8 HOURS to complete on the default settings.

Hoping we both get an answer, Dave.
