Error- cannot open AVI

I have Windows XP sp3, when I try and download updates (it finds updates OK) I get a dialog box that says "cannot open AVI".
Same error whether windows firewall is enabled or not.
Anyone know what this is?

Did you mean you have Windows XP service pack 2?There's no official XP service pack three that I know of,though I see there is an office XP service pack 3.The reason I'm asking is because someone here seemed to have problems with the cannot open .avi error after installing a service pack 3:

Thanks, that link gave me an answer, although not one I was hoping for.
I suppose I'll have to use a different spyware program. Pity, I like spybot, and use it on all my other computers.
 
Which do you have?Do you have Vista Transformation pack installed,or do you have an unofficial Service Pack 3,or something along those lines?

You can get manual updates from this page.You could try,and see if Spybot updates okay with that,without the error.
