Error message is making me crazy!!

Chasing my tail all day trying to startup the newly installed version 14 of Spybot. I get the message "You need to install the detection updates first by using the integrated update or the manual updater" every time I try to run the scan. I went to the FAQ list and took the advice there, went to Settings, Webupdates and chose the proxy server blah blah blah, but when I went to internet explorer options to find out my host/port info, there's nothing listed. I have Comcast cable. HELP!! My computer is a mess, and having used Spybot in years past, it was pretty good. I can't get it going after installing the new version today.

Did you actually try to update as follows:

• Go into Spybot > Update
• Click "Search for Updates"
• Check everything found
• Click "Download Updates"

If so and the update is not working what messages are you getting?
