Error Message-what do I do?

For the last week I have gotten this message when I try to "Scan" or "Check for Problems":

"You need to install the detection updates first by using the integrated update or the manual updater"

When I "Search for Updates" or hit the "update" button i gert this message:

"No newer updates available."

What is going on?

How do I correct this?

I am using W XP, with Spybot S&D, free downloaded version.

If this update doesn't help you, you should uninstall Spybot completely (uninstall over add/remove feature, reboot, delete leavings manually, install fresh Spybot 1.6.2) and reinstall it.
