Google Hijack and programs won't open

Hello everyone, I am new to this site and very appreciative of any assistance you can give. I started out by receiving the "Google Hijack" where any google searches would redirect to advertisements or porn sites. I didn't have time to work on that so i just started using Ask.com until i had time to research. Now my problem is that I have programs that will not open. When i click on the icon I get the hourglass and then a couple seconds later it disappears. When I go to the Windows Task Manager i see the exe running in the processes but no program. This is happening with DVDFab and when I try to use my company's VPN through internet. I a using Wondows XP. I also use Symantec anitvirus and update it regularly. I have tried running full scans from Symantech and Spybot but neither find any issues (not even the Google Hijack). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
