Help Appreciated, Pc Slow, Acting Weird, No Virus Or Malware Detected

HI

As the title says my pc has no obvious infections according to spybot 1.5 in safe mode and normal, and also uptodate pccillin virus scan. However it is atarting very slow and doing some peculiar things. Would some kind person please be good enough to cast an expert eye over my HJT log.

HJT was run with its name changed to scanner.exe just incase something was hiding.

Don't run and post a Kaspersky until I request it.

I see no evidence of a Vundo infection, but I do see this:

There is a strong possibility this is a password stealing trojan, but it could also be a self installed keylogger? I can not find out from here, if you did not install it or do not know what it is, then scan it with one or more of these free online scanners and post the information for me.

As the title says apologies for the slow reply. In between posting this message the original pc hiccupped with virtumonde leftovers.

I took your advice and scanned with Kaspersky. It found nothing. Thank goodness.

Kaspersky is sure clean, are you having any malware problems? Why not post a last HJT log for a double check.

Pc is still acting a little weird. Slow on start up, closing windows. Just slow in general. Its not that long since a format so should not really be any issues. No obvious problems to me, hence my request for an expert eye.

Oh and I have no idea what that updater entry is. is it safe as Kaspersky didnt find any problems?

Just tried opening indigorose website and pccillin flagged it as dangerous - spyware and would not allow access.
 
Did you open the Updater folder and check the properties of explorer.exe ? It would be the file that is in that Updater folder. I would be more than willing to see you delete that file if you wish.

First make sure your Recycle Bin has not been bypassed like this:
RIGHT click on it and choose properties. It should, by default, be set to "Use one setting for all drives"
Make sure the box "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted IS NOT CHECKED. Make sure you have space for deleted items, I keep my bin set at 5%. Now when we delete the file or folder, it will be moved to the bin and can be restored IF we make a mistake and need it back.

Now navigate to that file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\updater\explorer.exe <<< in red, right click and delete it. It wil be moved to the Recycle Bin so do not empty the RB for a few days to make sure there are no negative reations to removing the file. If it was my computer I would remove the Updater folder. I have opened this link:

Some kind of software installer. If you didn't install it get rid of it. I am concerned with the file being malware.

Yes I opened the exact folder and clicked on the only thing which was inside this folder it was called explorer.exe and its icon was a gold cd type disc.

Tried deleting it but it wont allow it. Says "access denied"

Follow these directions:

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Updater] C:\WINDOWS\system32\updater\explorer.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\updater\explorer.exe <<< check to make sure it is gone, be 100% positive you remove only the file in that pathway.

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer, post a new HJT log and tell me how the computer is running.

Followed your instructions to the letter.
When I turned Teatimer back ok, it said updater was trying to change registry/ I denied it access. I guess that means it still lurking somewhere.

Nothing showing in the HJT log, it might be something TT is remembering. Reboot a couple of time to see if it stops. It might also be TT seeing it is gone.

Pc still slow but stopped behaving odd.
TT has not mentioned the errant item again. So all is looking hopeful.
