Yep, your infected with a rootkit

Its important that you follow these instructions and rename Combofix as this Rootkit infection will stop it from running if its not renamed.

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.

Link 1
Link 2

CF_download_FF.gif

CF_download_rename.gif

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
  • See this Link for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
  • Remember to re-enable them when we're done.

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

RC1.png

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
RC2-1.png

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Here is both logs.

Hi,

I am looking over your Combofix log. When you originally posted you posted Hijackthis 2.0.2, in your last post you posted and earlier version of Hijackthis 1.99.1 <--Drag this one to the trash please .

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
    post_a4255_MBAM.PNG
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected .
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot.
Post the report and also a new HJT log please

Well here it is, but I have doubts that is easy.

Open Notepad Go to Start> All Programs> Assessories> Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad )and copy all the text inside the Codebox by highlighting it all and pressing CTRL C on your keyboard, then paste it into Notepad, make sure there is no space before and above Killall::

Code:

Driver::
geyekrftatssfv

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\geyekrmfpfviak.sys
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\geyekropfntaet.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\geyekrpmpdwcjp.dll

Save this as CFScript to your desktop.

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

CFScriptB-4.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply .

gmer_zip.gif

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

OK here it is, however GMER couldn't find anything abnormal after I run Combofix first.

I would still like to see the GMER log, I am concerned about your MBR being infected.

Run Rootrepeal again and post the new log.

You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here

Go to VirusTotal and submit this file for analysis, just use the browse feature and then Send File, you will get a report back, post the report into this thread for me to see.

c:\windows\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\gsvghq.sys

Here it is, Thought I can't exactly post a blank GMER report

There has to be more to the VirusTotal report , I believe that file is part of the Rootkit but want to make sure before we delete it

Download TFC to your desktop
  • Close any open windows.
  • Double click the TFC icon to run the program
  • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
  • Click the Start button to begin the process.
  • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
  • The program should not take long to finish it's job
  • Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
  • if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean

After running TFC and rebooting, I can't use ether firefox or Internet Explorer the only way to get this message to you is to use the Wii.

TFC is a good program, never seen this happen before. Lets use System Restore to restore your computer to an earlier date, just pick a date prior to running TFC

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.

On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.

http://bertk.mvps.org/

What exactly is going on ? What happens when you open up either browser ? Do the browsers open and take you to a blank page ? Do you have a router installed, are other computers able to access the internet from your router ?

If you have not done so already, hold off on System Restore as I have contacted the author of TFC and made him aware of this problem

well, internet explorer won't even open a window and firefox has this. "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window you must close the existing Firefox process, or restart the system."

Yes, the router installed and other computers are able to access the internet from the router.

All TFC does is clean out the temp folder, but malware may have been installed in there, those writers follow no rules, Malware may have inserted itself in the network or winsock setting.

Try this first.

Go to Start> Run and type in CMD. enter, At the command prompt type this in or you can copy and paste
