I think that I have spyware.

Every time I connect to the internet a couple of minutes later it disconnects. When it reconnects an icon comes up on the desktop and on the connect to part of the start menu. I have run lavasofts antispyware program but it can't pick it up. Everytime this happens I delete both icons, but everytime I reconnect to the internet it disconnects and the same things happen. I have no idea what tio do and would appreciate if someone would help me

Thanks

Hi there.
Is there any chance you can get onto another clean computer, go here:
Before you post a log

Read instructions which obviously you cannot follow right now but perhaps download HJT onto a floppie or burn to a CD.

Then run HJT on the infected computer:
From the clean computer:
Start a topic here posting the hjt log.
Malware Forum

See if you can do that please. :)

no there is no way that i have access to a clean computer. Is there anyhting else that i can do. I am finding it hard to type this and stay on the internet for any length of time as it keeps reconnecting on the other isp which probably costs a fortune per minute

I've also come across something similar. A "security alert" pops up, placing two "official" looking icons on the desktop, the start menu as-well-as the notification area.

Luckily, Spybot stopped all attemps to write to the registry. I had to physically pull the network cable to isolate my system for a while. Found that running Symantec uncovered 2 trojans which were then removed. I restored back to a previous known good state and deleted the icons manually.
