Hidden .SCR files in the S&D directory

After installing the S&D program I noticed 3 hidden files in the directory with random names and their extensions end with .SCR. Are these files supposed to be there? I have them on my laptop and desktop systems but a Google search and a search on this site didn't turn up anything that indicated they should be there. I am running XP on the laptop and Windows 7 on the desktop. The desktop seems ok but I don't think I ran the program on it yet. The laptop is hosed though and I can't run anything. I keep getting the error "Unknown Hard Error" in popups for almost any program I run. I ran a scandisk and it was clean. Can anyone help?

Are you getting bsod's on the laptop at all,or are you just getting the "Unknown Hard Error" in popups?

Only in popups. I rebooted a few times and that did not help. It ran windows all the way to the desktop but then almost all the apps I tried to run failed with that message plus the app name, so it didn't make sense that it would be the hard drive. I finally just shut it off till the next day. NOW it's working fine! I don't like that. It happened by the way right after I worked on my sisters laptop that was FULL of viruses. I might have shared a thumb drive but I didn't think so.

There's nothing useful there. There are no errors preceding or following the entries and all you really get out of the log is the following:

If you follow Microsoft's link, you get the following note which may or may not be the exact match:
The program could not load a driver because the program user doesn't have sufficient privileges to access the driver or because the drive is missing or corrupt.


Everything seems normal on the system now.
