Host File Access & Browser Hijack

I ran Spy Bot and it located problems with "Microsoft Windows Redirected Hosts" and "Fraud Windows Protection Suite."

However, I get an error report when trying to fix the problem --

Cannot create file c:windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.

I know the browsers are hijacked. I am close to reformatting but am also concerned about whether that will actually clear the problem.

If anyone can assist it would be most appreciated.

First see that forum's FAQ which also includes instructions on posting a preliminary DDS log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)
