I need help Smitfraud-C??

But my Laptop started running really slow. It takes over 30minutes just to fully start up. I'm thinking its some sort of malware. I scanned it with my antivirus and yes I do understand that McAfee is not the best but it's what I have and nothing showed up. I also ran a spybot scan and what shows up is SmitFraud-C.gp originally I thought about reformating it, but Id like to avoid that if I can since I have too much stuff on my PC.
I really dunno what wrong with my PC. I'm not sure if it's because of a malware thats doing it or maybe its because I burnt out something (since it is a older PC) So I thought I'd ask and see if perhaps its a malware problem. I'm sorry if it's a hardware problem and not a software problem. But my first instinct is that its a software problem and before I toss it out the window (which I am really tempted to) I figure I should at least Identify what it is since it was working perfectly well only 2 days ago. Thank you..and once again sorry if it's not a software problem.
also...I really should have taken a screenshot I got some sort of error msg while performing a spybot scan too. it said something about an error in a certain directory. the directory was something like D://program files/Spybot/excludes/trojan. some random letters. Sorry I know i should have screenshot it, but I totally forgot.

I do not know, since you have posted and out of date HJT log, if I can help you or not. Until I get the correct log, this is what I see.

They is nothing wrong with McAfee, I used them for years and only left because the program got so resource intense that it does slow down the computer. If you keep it up to date it is a good antivirus program that includes a firewall and other security junk, but do remember, you pay for all of that in resources.

D:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe <<< now this is a different story, this program has been obsolete for a while. Open Add Remove programs and uninstall it completely.

Open Spybot S&D and click on Help then About. Your Spybot S&D version is right in the middle, tell me what that is. Rught under the version is the Latest detection update: tell me what that date is.

Now post a new HJT log using these instructions:

Download Trend Micro Hijack This™ to your Desktop
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe
Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

Keep your eyes open for error message, I do not want screenshots, write them down word for word and post them.
Once I have this information I will be better able to advise you.

and the Error Messages I get is: "There were problems in the include file D:\program Files\Spybot - Search_Destroy\Includes\Trojans.sbi" and there was also another one that the same pretty much but with a different trojan...I forgot to write that one down, but I went into that directory and the only other trojan is "TrojanC.sbi" and it looks about right. sorry...

The problems with Spybot are probably being caused by the old, out of date version. Download the new version here:

So I updated spybot and scanned my computer.
The only message I got was something about Windows.ActiveDesktop. I assumed it was nothing...

Metrolist is a safe and rapmls I believe is a component of Metrolist so it should be safe as well.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

I Downloaded and installed the program. It detected about 11 'things'

I also read the first link that you sent me. I do run McAfee and it's a heavy resource suite. My laptop has 512mb and the website suggest that running a lower resource program would probably help. I know that the website has some recommendations, but I was wondering what would you recommend for a (Free) firewall and antivirus

Also...I run spyware terminator and it starts up when windows starts, do you recommend that program or a different one or is it redundant since I have spybot? Figure I should clean up my computer of programs it might not need ^_^

That would have remove the Temp junk MBAM found and the rest was registry leftovers.

I'll say that I used McAfee for years mostly because I got a great price for VSO for multiple computers. When they did the last update which I was watching in folks logs and it was hugh, many were complaining about how slow their computer was after downloading it, so I called to complain and was told I updated or else. I chose the "or else" and moved to AVG Free from Grisoft.

I decided to switch over to AVG and Comodo and my PC does seem to load up a bit faster. hopefully everything is okay.

however I did get this pop-up for windows installer for hpmdinst (cant remember for sure what the extension is). I have no clue what it is. I turned on my PC and it popped up. of course I canceled. Actually it popped up last night as well. I just thought that I accidentally hit something from my start menu because I was trying to get something from my start menu but my computer did one of those things where after I moved the cursor to ALL PROGRAMS, it froze up for a bit (or rather a long bit) so I thought I might have clicked on something in that blank space not knowing what it was. I hit cancel and turned off my PC later that night. however when I turned it on today it tried to install again. should I be worried about it? I figure it's an HP component. I use to have an HP printer installed on my PC but I have long unistalled that. I dunno what's causing it to popup now.

also MBAM, should I keep that program installed on my PC? I only ask because you told me to uninstall ewido and the only reason I had that installed was because I was told to use it about 2 yrs ago when I was getting help ridding a Malware on this PC.

Sorry for the hundred questions...

The uninstaller probably did not remove all of the program. Use Search Companion (takes a while) to search for that file...then navigate to it and if it is left from the HP printer, delete it.

MBAM is a nice free alternative scan to backup your resident programs. You may keep it if you wish.
