infection affecting mouse steering?

Due to the installation of a new modem supplied by the cable tv i had to switch off temp the firewall installed on my laptop.
After resetting all, i noticed that something is effecting my mouse, steered by the mouse pad. it seems it has its own life; not responding to the pad, turning internetpages by itself etc. The problem can be temp solved by pressing the ENTER button.
Can this be caused by a virus or some other infection? all scanning programms that run on my laptop incl spydoctor, did not detect any malware.
does this ring a bell somewhere?

Thanks in advance!!Ceejeewee:cool:

Hello Ceejeewee,

Sometimes an erratic mouse/pointer issue can be resolved with an update, have you checked at the laptop's site to see if one is available? :)

Best regards,

Hi thanks. I checked the site for updates, but there were no. So i downloaded and installed again the mousepad software. Anxious to see if there will be any difference.
Thanks again!:cowboy:
