New Data Breach Suggestion Intellectual Property Rights Should Attach To Your Personal Information

This is a suggestion about a yet uncovered data breach that Identity Monitor should cover.

You may, or may not be aware of a double data breach, that took place on 08/20/2024, then again on 08/21/2024. It is difficult to determine the culprit, but obvious to establish the responsible party.
A background report provider; National Public Data, (nationalpublicdata.com), took up operations collecting personal information on individuals, without any specific permissions from the individuals. Compiling the information into profiles, then selling it without regard, to anyone that would buy it. Seems like a crime in itself, doesn't it?
I was recently advised that my Social Security number was compromised in these breaches. I became a victim by no fault of my own.
It is a shame that lawmakers squabble over kibble across the aisle, day in and day out, and get nothing done. It would be better to bring law that has teeth, and hold these companies that collect and sell our information, accountable for its safe keeping. It is ours, it has intrinsic pecuniary value, and intellectual property rights should attach, making the breach of such, actionable in a court of law.
Would anyone agree?
