Hello I hope I'm doing this correct I know it's important that we post in the correct ares... In reading around I saw some people with the same problem and you said to download hijackthis and other instructions that I tried to follow so here it goes.

also I have scanned my system and have some problems I'm not sure if they show in the above log,
doubleclick,mediaplex and a smitfraud-c-.coreservice
I have not done any fixes this time but I did try before and spybot found a bunch of other things and removed them, one of the errors sounded like the ie pop up probelm but it didn't fix when removed... I dunno I'm real frustrated and I want to see if I can handle this with you wonderful peoples wealth of knowledge ;) I thank you for you're time and again I hope I did the posting correctly

Description
This trojan horse gets installed as a driver and constantly runs in background and connects to malicious servers without any user consent. Removal may require to manually close the file handles of the core.cahce.dsk and core.sys residing in the folder \windows\system32\drivers\. To receive help on this please contact Team Spybot S&D via forums or email.

since its been awhile please post a updated hjt log, if you still need help.

in the mean time you can do this; but first disable spybots tea timer and windows defender real time protection if running before using hjt.

these are somewhat old directions but should be close:

1. Launch Windows Defender
2. Click Tools > General Settings
3. Under Realtime Protection Options uncheck "Turn on real real-time protection (recommended)".
4. Click the Save button
5. Close Windows Defender


Spybot S&D (Teatimer)

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

Na it's still doing the same thing were ie will open up to some fake site when I'm just browsing the net with firefox and the smitfruad trojan is found by spy bot still and the mediaplex thing... I dunno where we go from here? thanks again

ok thanks for the info.

no pop ups? is spybot coming up clean now? i would suggest another app to run but they aren't supported in vista.
 
Yeah I.E. opens up when I go to a new website somtimes to a blank page sometimes to a fake site that has something to do with the real site I'm looking at... Spybot is finding the mediplex still and the smitfruad c trojan still, I saw this post on the formus http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php

I'm thinking about trying it I havent done anything yet though
 
Ah I see so the operating system would even come into play in such a case, dang we'll thanks for everything I'll try it out
maybe I'll just wipe her clean and start over I dunno thanks though
 
yeah!!!! So I followed you're link and I ended up downloading the super anti spywear and it found a bunch of things and managed to delete them, super stoked it also fixed the I.E opening up....Very happy thanks alot Shelf you rock :
