Introduction to BrowsAlyzer

The most common door for malware these days is the Internet. And by Internet, we mean either emails or visited websites. Knowing browsers inside out is therefore an essential part of anti malware forensics.

Our anti-malware solution [url)=/forums/spybot-search-destroy/]Spybot - Search Destroy[/url] therefore had an important focus - other than classic antivirus software that was solely focused on files - on the inside of browser data. We've always put a lot on focus on supporting many browsers, and have early on (the earliest version still online is from 2007) published tools to demonstrate on the browser data Spybot checks (back then, still named Browser Cache Information).

When it was time to update BrowserCI again in 2023, we decided to add more use and re-wrote our old tool as the new BrowsAlyzer, taking on the name suffix of our other public forensic tools.

BrowsAlyzer shows you the standard data from cookies over cache and history to bookmarks, but has added features like a list of privacy preferences for Firefox browsers, and most importantly, an enhanced search. With a click, you can list for example all porn sites on a machine, even for browsers you might not even have noticed that they are installed. Or you could list all visited websites that have been part of a data breach, and where you might pay attention to check if your login data is safe and you use 2FA.
