Before I purchase the professional version I'd like to know whether I can disable the anti-virus feature and if Kaspersky will allow it to install/run.
Is the Spybot Professional product compatible with Kaspersky Pure 3.0?

If you already have a resident anti-virus program it may not allow the installation of another or will issue a warning because more than one anti-virus program on a machine is not recommended.
Is this a personal computer? If so and you want to keep Kaspersky for the time being you could install the free version of Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/
