Laptop will not stop "chiming"

I installed Spybot and Tea Timer and now my laptop is constantly making a chiming sound. Any action taken by the system results in the sound. (open excel, get a chime, make a circular reference, get a chime, switch to a different window, get a chime...) It's driving me crazy. I went so far as to search my hard-drive for all "Chime" files and changed the name to Chime_stfu hoping to at least block the sound... no luck. What's going on here?

Go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, goto Sounds tab and at Sound Schemes select Windows Default or No Sounds and apply.
