I have a certain maleware afflicting my computer, and it turns out many others have too. This prompts me to ask if the process of cleaning individual computers as you graciously do, is a method of collecting information for later use in spybot as a general clean for all other users afflicted by that virus/maleware?

If unknown suspicious files are found on a machine the user may be asked to upload the file to one of certain sites that analyze such files. This helps to facilitate the quick detection of viruses, worms, trojans etc by anti-virus/malware engines. If the infection is not detected one's helper and/or a member of Team Spybot may ask for the file to be sent to them for further analysis.
Spybot-S&D has an email address for such: detections(at)spybot.info (Replace AT with @)

Thanks for the quick response Tashi, I hope that the volunteers give you examples of what they see in individual cases to help identify common elements.

But I've already seen 4+ cases of the same situation that I am in. Of course each fix is for an individual computer, but I just thought that that information was collected. An assumption, but would be usefull quickly for a lot of users using spybot and eliminating the need to occupy volunteers repeatedly, right? or am i getting something wrong here

To put things in perspective, various vendors report over 35,000 new malware samples are discovered daily.
The Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), included in Microsoft/Windows Updates, removed malware from more than 1.5 million machines three days after the latest release in November.
Of interest: Microsoft Security Intelligence Report volume 7
