The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "CoolWWWSearch.Leftovers" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Part of the CoolWWWSearch hijackers. It installs itself without any permission in background. It hooks itself to the Internet Explorer and redirects it´s searches and/or homepage to CoolWWWSearch websites, which harbor other malware or fraudware. ToolbarCC appears to be a part of this hijacker.​
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "SystemSearch".
  • Entries named "spp".
  • Entries named "sp".
  • Entries pointing to "<$WINDIR>\winupdate.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$WINDIR>\winlogon.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$WINDIR>\msfind.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\mstaskm.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\msupdate.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$WINDIR>\sp.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\hosts.vbs".
  • Entries pointing to "<$WINDIR>\reg32.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$SYSDIR>\nvidia32.exe".
  • Entries pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Internet Explorer\Iesar.exe".
  • Entries named "defragm_check".
Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "c:\ie.reg".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CoolWWWSearch.Leftovers uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{0982868C-47F0-4EFB-A664-C7B0B1015808}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".

  • Delete the registry key "{0BA1C6EB-D062-4E37-9DB5-B07743276324}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0BA1C6EB-D062-4E37-9DB5-B07743276324}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{1F48AA48-C53A-4E21-85E7-AC7CC6B5FFB1}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{1F48AA48-C53A-4E21-85E7-AC7CC6B5FFB2}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{1F48AA48-C53A-4E21-85E7-AC7CC6B5FFB2}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{94927A13-4AAA-476A-989D-392456427688}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{94927A13-4AAA-476A-989D-392456427688}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".

  • Delete the registry key "{A097840A-61F8-4B89-8693-F68F641CC838}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{CC916B4B-BE44-4026-A19D-8C74BBD23361}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "WinUpdate" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\".
  • Delete the registry key "{00110011-4B0B-44D5-9718-90C88817369B}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{00110011-4B0B-44D5-9718-90C88817369B}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry value "tlc" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\".
  • Delete the registry key "Web Search" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0B5F1910-F111-11d2-BB9E-00C04F7956B1}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0B5F1910-F111-11d2-BB9E-00C04F7956B2}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0B5F1910-F111-11d2-BB9E-00C04F7956B3}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0B5F1910-F111-11d2-BB9E-00C04F7956B4}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "{0B5F1910-F111-11d2-BB9E-00C04F7956B5}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "Win32 Classes" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".
If CoolWWWSearch.Leftovers uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

INI files:

The following .ini file entries may need corrections. You can open this files in Notepad or any other text editor.
  • Please remove "*" from entry "run" from section "windows" in file "<$WINDIR>\win.ini".
  • Please remove "*" from entry "run" from section "windows" in file "<$WINDIR>\win.ini".
  • Please remove entry "run" from section "windows" in file "<$WINDIR>\win.ini".

Browser:

The following browser plugins or items can either be removed directly in your browser, or through the help of e.g. Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer.
  • Please check your bookmarks for links to "res://mshp.dll/".
