The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Fraud.DesktopDefender2010" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Fraud.DesktopDefender2010 claims to be an antispyware tool. When it is installed to the computer it finds a lot of harmless entries in order to frighten the user and makes him buy a license to get the issue fixed.​
Removal Instructions:

Quicklaunch area:

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Quicklaunch symbols named "Desktop Defender 2010.lnk" and pointing to "".
Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.
  • Entries named "Desktop Defender 2010" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\Desktop Defender 2010.exe".
Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\AF.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\Desktop Defender 2010.exe".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\guide.chm".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\hjengine.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\IEAddon.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\shellext.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\siglsp.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\tdifw_drv_WLH.sys".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010\tdifw_drv_WXP.sys".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\Desktop Defender 2010.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\Desktop Defender 2010\Activate Desktop Defender 2010.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\Desktop Defender 2010\Desktop Defender 2010.lnk".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\Desktop Defender 2010\How to Activate Desktop Defender 2010.lnk".
  • The file at "<$SYSDIR>\drivers\tdifw_drv.sys".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fraud.DesktopDefender2010 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Desktop Defender 2010".
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMS>\Desktop Defender 2010".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fraud.DesktopDefender2010 uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{08EEC6AD-7486-487F-89B7-5A3716DDAE14}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{3ED0E410-5C8E-47B6-A75D-D10B886E903C}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{C0E56AC2-9F72-436E-B6E7-AEC28AF9E4EB}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{CCB5551D-8594-4999-85F9-1E3EABCB95AC}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{CCB5551D-8594-4999-85F9-1E3EABCB95AC}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "Desktop Defender 2010" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
  • Delete the registry key "tdifw_drv" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "tdifw_drv" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\".
  • Delete the registry key "tdifw_drv" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet003\Services\".
If Fraud.DesktopDefender2010 uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
