Need help removing Zlob.dnschanger.rtk

Sincere thanks !

Hi Ken - Wanted to say thanks for your time & help - I really appreciate your unselfish nature of helping others & me out of bad situations. Having a computer virus is a very stressful thing -especially when it is on a very important computer that holds vital information to your personal life or small one man business.

I have read alot of info on the links you listed and would like your personal opinion as I have a new machine I will be setting up and and transferring alot of my files to. At present I have Norton 2008 antivirus on my existing machine - it ties up alot of resources, is expensive and didn't prevent me from being infected - I'm not sure I like it. Based on what I've read - on my new machine I would like to install spybot (probably disable tea timer because I receive alot of popups from it and I'm not sure if things are good or bad), commodo firewall , spyware blaster and the antivirus program Avira.

In your opinion - is this a good combination or should I not install some of the above programs or install different ones that work better together? Also - this new machine will be critical for me and my small business - should I just use the free version of Avira or pay for the premium version ? (cost is not a big factor for something like this).

Again any advice is greatly appreciated - and thanks Again !!!:):):):):)

Hello,

Sounds ok. Keep Spybot Search and Destroy, check for updates, and Use the Immunize feature, it will help block a ton of stuff from installing, as far as the TeaTimer, it will conflict with Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard so keep it disabled.

You can post in our forum for Spybot and learn how to configure it, you may also want to install Spybots Hosts file and lock it so that malware can't change it

SpywareGuard,
a one time install, basically does the same thing as the TeaTimer but not in your face

SpywareBlaster,
no scan to run, just update it every few weeks and it blocks bad sites from installing there garbage

I have run this on one of my own personal computers and am quite impressed with it.
AVG Free

I have heard good things about the Comodo Firewall so go for it.

Good Luck,

Ken :)
