Need help to get rid of a popup saying Security threat

I keep having a little baloon poping up on the bottom of my screen that says I have a security problem. I also get a window popup that directs me to the windows security center that wants me to buy some software for anti-spyware it says it is blocking some sort of trojan. I have a toshiba sattelite laptop and am running windows XP. Please help someone
