Purchased and installed Spybot Professional on Windows 8.1 Pro machine. Originally installed the free version and had issues with updates showing issues.
The update screen (after selecting Update) showed three sections. The middle one always stayed "RED".
In Spybot Pro same thing happens on update. When checking for anti-spyware it gives error. A separate dialog window pops up: Spybot - Search & Destroy could not download any valid updates yet.......proxy server might be blocking...etc.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Also getting issue with desktop screen going to gray scale with a small button (not select-able) above system tray "Repair Environment".
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you. :)
For the Repair Environment,it's normal for the desktop to go to grey scale. On Windows 7,it shows a bar that goes completely across from the start button to the computer clock, and over to the far left it says System. If you click on that, and then Exit,it will go out of Repair Environment.Does that sound anything like what you are seeing?

Does the middle antispyware section show as red after you click the Update button at the very top?
If you didn't have Spybot for very long, your Updates logfile shouldn't have a lot into it,so you should be able to post it here without running out of space. On the updates page, can you click Show Update log, after notepad opens,go to Edit, then Select All,then rightclick, select Copy, then paste it here?

Thank you. :)
Your updates logfile is showing this repeatedly:

So,it's likely the problems with updates are related to the first paragraph on this page:
http://www.safer-networking.org/faq/why-do-i-receive-error-retrieving-update-info-file-2/
1. The error message “Error retrieving update info file” usually appears when Spybot – Search & Destroy has accidently imported bad Internet Explorer proxy settings. In this case, it helps just to disable the proxy option in Spybot 2. You can access this setting by choosing “Configure Proxy“ in the Updater menu on the left. Or you open the Spybot 2 “Start Center“ and click on “Settings“. Choose the tab “Internet Protection“. Here you can untick “Use Spybot Proxy“. Now click “Apply“ and “OK“.

The Spybot proxy was dimmed out, but I deleted the set up proxy and it fixed the issue.
I can now update.
Thanks for your help.
