ClamAV is open source,I believe.And I think there are a couple others.

well i think your good, i don't think it would be any less safe. But if i could recommend an antiviruis, avast is defiantly a good choice. =]

Just remember spybot detects spyware and keyloggers, and dialers. etc. Not viruses!!

Well, of course any software can be not secure it really depends on how well coded the software is. A good indication of that, is the popularity of the software and ClamWin and ClamAV are the most popular open source anti-virus software today

If it wasn't well coded, people wouldn't download and use the program :grandpa:


I do not however recommend using ClamWin as a replacement to your current anti-virus because it does get less frequent definition updates which in this day and age can make a big difference. None the less, ClamWin is a very useful and portable Anti-virus app olice:
