pdf reader in the new Firefox 19

I tried the new pdf reader in Firefox last night and it didn't work very well.
If I want to keep Adobe reader working in Firefox do I need to do something to the "about:config" function in Firefox?

I think you mean you want to keep it "from working?"
Most likely you can just disable the plugin under Tools>addons>plugins.
